Men’s Tennis wins five matches on day two of Big 12/SEC Challenge

The Longhorns took all four singles matches against players from Oklahoma State plus one in doubles against Arizona State.
Waco, Texas – Texas Men's Tennis won five matches on day two of the Big 12/SEC Challenge at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco on Saturday. The Longhorns took all four singles matches against players from Oklahoma State, plus one in doubles against Arizona State.
Starting in doubles, senior Pierre-Yves Bailly and freshman Timo Legout secured their second win of the tournament with an 8-4 decision over Roi Ginat and Mike Anderson of the Sun Devils. The lone defeat of the day for the Longhorns came when sophomore Lucas Brown and freshman Evan Burnett fell to Nikola Cigna and Daniel Phillips of ASU.
Later in the day, all four Texas players earned singles wins, led by Legout's second ranked victory in as many matches of his UT career when he downed No. 100 Derek Pham of Oklahoma State, 6-4, 6-1. Meanwhile, No. 46 Bailly defeated Alessio Basile, 6-2, 6-3, No. 124 Brown topped Thomas Gadecki, 6-2, 6-1, and Burnett posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ian Bracks.
The tournament features individual play with members of schools of the SEC, including Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Texas A&M playing those of the Big 12, including Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
Play concludes on Sunday when the Longhorns will take on players from Oklahoma State in doubles, and Baylor in singles.
Due to scoreboard renovations at the Hurd Tennis Center, live stats may not be available, however results will be entered into the draw on the ITA Tournament Hub.
