No. 14 Volleyball sweeps Alabama on Sunday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 14 Texas Volleyball completed the sweep of Alabama, 25-16, 25-23, 25-15, on Sunday in front of a record crowd of 3,800 at Foster Auditorium. On the Longhorns' roadtrip to Alabama, Texas did not drop a set and played in front of program record crowds for both Auburn and Alabama.
The Longhorns (15-6, 10-3) hit .357 in the match, had 10 total blocks, six service aces and held the Crimson Tide to a .150 hitting percentage.
Madisen Skinner led the way offensively with 14 kills and 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season, while hitting .314.
Jenna Wenaas also recorded a double-double, her fourth of the season, with 10 kills and 10 digs. She was outstanding in the third set, with five kills, four digs and two blocks.
Ayden Ames had another strong match, with eight kills and four blocks with a .571 hitting percentage.
Averi Carlson dished out 35 assists and finished with three digs and two blocks.
The first set was close early and the Crimson Tide grabbed a 12-10 lead before the Longhorns took over. With Akana at the service line, Texas went on a 5-0 run and never looked back. Texas hit .500 in the set and were led by five kills from Skinner and four by Ames.
The second set was much closer throughout and went down to the wire, with Texas pulling out a 25-23 win. The Longhorns hit .324 in the set and held the Crimson Tide to a .229 hitting percentage.
Texas dominated the third set 25-15 after jumping out to a big lead early and never looking back. Wenaas was outstanding in the final set, posting five kills and two blocks to finish off the sweep.
The Longhorns will play their final regular season road match next week, traveling to face Oklahoma on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m.
