No. 1 Men's Swim breaks three program records at Texas Invitational

Modglin breaks 100 back school record twice on Thursday.
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 1 Texas men's swim program took down three program records on the second day of the Texas Invitational.
Will Modglin broke his own school record in the 100 back twice on Thursday after posting the top time in the prelims at 41.39 and then lowering it to 41.31 in the finals to win. The standout sophomore now holds the four fastest times in UT history. Close behind was Will Scholtz in second with a time of 51.03 and moved to No. 4 on the all-time performer list.
Modglin combined with Nate Germonprez, Hubert Kos and Camden Taylor to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:22.43 – the fourth-fastest in program history. The Texas 'B' team of Kyle Peck, Scholtz, Aleksej Filipovic and Garrett Gould were runners-up in 1:24.44.
Fresh off breaking the 500 free American Record last night, Rex Maurer won the 400 IM with a time of 3:34.19 for a pool record. The time also ranks as the second-fastest time in school history. Senior David Johnston was second in 3:39.55 (No. 7 all-time performer), while Cooper Lucas was third in 3:40.75 (No. 9 all-time performer).
Peck returned to the pool to lead the Longhorns in the top-six finishes of the 100 fly with his time of 45.77. Kos was the runner-up in 45.81, while Logan Walker was third in 45.94. Filipovic (46.07), Ryan Branon (46.25) and Holden Smith (46.28) finished fourth through sixth, respectively.
Taylor won in an impressive field in the 200 free with his time of 1:32.02 to move to No. 9 on the all-time performer list. Coby Carrozza was the runner-up in 1:32.27 and Luke Hobson was fourth in 1:32.99.
Germonprez began the morning breaking Caspar Corbeau's 100 breast program record with his time of 50.39. He ended the night winning the final in 50.87, tied for the eighth fastest at UT. Scholtz was a close second in 51.03 and ranks as the 10th fastest at UT.
The Longhorns closed out the night with a dominating win in the 800 free relay with Maurer, Carrozza, Taylor and Hobson combining for a time of 6:09.30. It's the 13th best time in school history.
