No. 14 Volleyball sweeps Tennessee

The Longhorns had the third-highest hitting percentage in program history at a .554 clip.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 14 Texas Volleyball was absolutely dominant offensively in sweeping Tennessee, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20, on Wednesday at Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns (17-6, 12-3) had their highest single-match hitting percentage since 2012 and the third-highest in program history with a .554 hitting percentage.
Averi Carlson dished out 34 assists and added three digs and one kill, while quarterbacking the Longhorns to an incredibly efficient night.
Madisen Skinner finished with 12 kills and hit .429, while Reagan Rutherford added 10 kills with a .643 hitting percentage. Ayden Ames had nine kills with a .692 hitting percentage and Marianna Singletary added eight kills on just 10 swings for a .700 hitting percentage. Jenna Wenaas rounded out the offensive performance with seven kills and a .462 hitting percentage.
The Longhorns started the match playing extremely efficiently, hitting .636 in the first set and winning it 25-20. The offense was balanced as well, with Skinner posting five kills, while Rutherford and Wenaas each had four and Singletary added three.
Texas kept hitting at an elite clip in the second set, hitting .727 on 22 attacks to win the set 25-14. The Longhorns cruised for the set win to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Ames had an incredible second set as well, with eight kills on nine swings.
The Longhorns' hitting percentage dipped in the third set, as they only hit .367 after hitting well over .600 in the first two sets. Despite that drop off, Texas still rolled to a 25-20 win to complete the sweep.
Texas will close out the regular season with Senior Day against Ole Miss on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gregory Gym.
