Men's Swimming's Hobson and Guiliano break 400 free relay world record at SC World Championships

Hubert Kos advances to 100 back final with top-seeded time.
BUDAPEST – Members of the No. 1 Texas men's swimming program took down a world record at the World Aquatics Short Course World Championships.
Senior Luke Hobson and senior transfer Chris Guiliano broke the world record in the 400 freestyle final with a time of 3:01.66, breaking Italy's two-year record. Hobson split 45.18, while Guiliano anchored the team with a time of 45.42. The pair combined with Jack Alexy and Kieran Smith for Team USA and are now the only foursome to ever break the 3:02.00 barrier.
Hubert Kos led the field in the 100 backstroke semifinals with a time of 49.03 heading into the finals. Kos, representing Hungary, just edged out Miron Lifintsev in 49.07 and recorded the new Hungarian record after a strong final 25.
Texas Pro, Shaine Casas, who trains under head coach Bob Bowman, won the 200 IM with a Championship and American record time of 1:49.51. Texas Ex Carson Foster was fourth overall with his time of 1:51.32.
