Texas wins second SEC dual meet of the season.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Women's Swim and Dive won its second SEC dual meet against No. 12 Georgia, 190-104. The Longhorns were led by freshman Jillian Cox who broke her own school record in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:24.83 to solidify the top spot in the NCAA rankings.
The Texas women dominated the 200-yard medley relay taking first and second with the Texas 'A' team (Emma Kern, Abby Arens, Emma Sticklen, Grace Cooper) finishing with a time of 1:35.72 and the Texas 'B' team (Olivia Bray, Piper Enge, Campbell Stoll, Erin Gemmell) with a time of 1:36.67.
Freshman Lillian Nesty finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.53 to move to No. 5 on the all-time best performer list and No. 13 in the NCAA. Ava Longi finished behind her in second with a time of 1:44.49.
Bray (51.52) and Kern (52.71) completed the 100-yard backstroke in first and second, respectively, to continue the day. Enge then took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.92, with Angie Coe behind her in second with a time of 1:00.21.
Arens finished the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:54.17 to move to No. 9 on the all-time best performer list and No. 13 in the NCAA. Stoll was the runner up with a time of 1:54.34.
Sticklen continued the day finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.76 to move to No. 8 on the all-time best performance list. Cooper finished behind her with a time of 22.03.
Longi (48.19) and Gemmell (48.39) finished first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle. Nesty then won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.99.
Arens moved to No. 8 on the all-time best performer list with her time of 2:09.47 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Enge (2:11.65) and Chase (2:21.71) finished behind her in second and third place, respectively.
To wrap up the day in swimming, Texas continued their dominance taking the top four spots in the 100-yard butterfly with Sticklen leading with a time of 50.54.
On the boards, the women swept both springboard events to wrap up the last home meet of the season.
Sophomore Amanda Stalfort secured first place with her six 1-meter dives, finishing with 282.30 points. Fellow sophomores, Caroline Kupka (282.00) and Bayleigh Cranford (280.65) finished behind her in second and third place.
Cranford finished first in the 3-meter dives with a total of 331.58. Texas divers secured the following five places with Jaiden Lynch (320.03), Hailey Hernandez (317.55), Kupka (316.05), Sarah Carruthers (299.33), and Stalfort (296.55).
