No. 13 Volleyball sweeps No. 19 USC in NCAA Second Round

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 13 Texas Volleyball swept No. 19 USC, 26-24, 25-20, 25-22, the NCAA Second Round in front of a sold-out crowd on Friday at Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns (20-6) advance to the NCAA Regional for the 19th-consecutive season, the longest active streak in the country. Texas will wait to learn it's NCAA Regional semifinal opponent. Game times and broadcast information for the NCAA Regional will be announced at a later date.
Madisen Skinner was outstanding in her final match at Gregory Gymnasium, hammering 23 kills with a .347 hitting percentage, and posting her eighth double-double of the season with 12 digs.
Jenna Wenaas also had an incredible match for her final time at Gregory Gym, finishing with 13 kills on just 21 swings for a .619 hitting percentage.
Reagan Rutherford added seven kills, while Marianna Singletary had six kills and three blocks. Ayden Ames led the team with seven total blocks and added two kills.
Averi Carlson dished out 40 assists and added four blocks and four digs. Emma Halter finished with 12 digs and six assists to lead the back line.
The Longhorns had to rally in the first set after a slow start, going on to win it 26-24 after trailing 8-3 early. Skinner also started slowly but finished with a tremendous eight kills to lead the way.
Texas again had to rally in the second set, trailing 10-7 early but coming back to tie it up 12-all. The Longhorns finished off the set, 25-20, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Longhorns stormed out to a 19-13 lead in the third set and then had to hold on to complete the sweep of the Trojans.
