Hobson, Carson Foster win 4x100 freestyle relay bronze at World Aquatics Championships

Luke Hobson and Carson Foster joined Matt King and Shaine Casas in the final for the United States.
DOHA, Qatar – Texas Men's Swimming's Luke Hobson and former Longhorn Carson Foster helped the United States win bronze in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay at the World Aquatics Championships on Sunday inside the Aspire Dome.
Hobson and Foster joined Matt King and Shaine Cases, who trains in Austin with Texas coaches Eddie Reese and Wyatt Collins, to place third in the relay with a time of 3:12.29. China won gold in 3:11.08, while Italy won silver at 3:12.08.
King led off the relay with a time of 48.02 before giving way to Casas, who split 48.47. Hobson followed with the fastest split of the quartet at 47.68 and Foster anchored the relay with a time of 48.12.
In the men's 100-meter breaststroke, Texas Ex Caspar Corbeau advanced to Monday's final after posting the sixth-fastest semifinals swim at 59.33. The final is set for February 12 at 10:02 a.m. CT. Jake Foster, swimming for Team USA, narrowly missed advancing to the final, clocking a career-best 59.48 in the semis to finish ninth overall, eight one-hundredths of a second behind the eighth-place spot.
David Johnston swam for the United States in the 400-meter freestyle, posting a 3:46.99 for the 12th-fastest time in the semifinals.
Swimming at the World Aquatics Championships resumes early on Monday morning. A pair of incoming Longhorns will compete for the first time at the championships as Piper Enge will compete for Team USA in heat six of the Women's 100-meter breaststroke at 1:18 a.m. CT and Kate Hurst will swim for the United States in the Women's 1500-meter freestyle's third and final heat at 2:23 a.m. CT. Hobson will race in heat five of the 200-meter free at 1:35 a.m. CT.
