Harris wins 1-meter at Zone D Diving Championships

Texas added six NCAA Championship qualifying events on the second day of competition.
HOUSTON – Nick Harris was victorious on 1-meter and Texas Diving added six qualifying events for NCAA Championship on Tuesday during day two of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the CRCW Natatorium. The Longhorns qualified four men on 1-meter and two women on 3-meter during the competition today.
Harris claimed the top spot on Men's 1-meter with 768.75 points, while Noah Duperre took third with 755.80 points and Brendan McCourt scored 693.95 points to place seventh. All three also qualified on 3-meter during Monday's competition. Tanner Braunton narrowly missed finishing among the top 10, the benchmark for 1-meter qualification, taking 11th with 663.65 points, but with his qualifier on Monday on 3-meter and his top-12 placement this afternoon he will be able to compete at the national meet in both events. Manuel Borowski placed 13th with 631.45 points and Pierce Brooke tallied 597.15 points to finish 15th overall.
On Women's 3-meter, Bridget O'Neil took the runner-up spot with 677.30 points and Hailey Hernandez recorded 639.25 points to finish seventh, within the top-nine required for qualification. Sarah Carruthers scored 609.95 points for the 12th-place finish and Amanda Stalfort took 14th with 602.45 points, while Caroline Kupka tallied 277.55 points in the prelim.
The NCAA Zone D Diving Championships conclude on Wednesday, March 13 with the platform competition. Prelims for the women will begin at 11:45 a.m. CT and the men at 1:45 p.m. CT.
