Men’s Swim & Dive places seventh at 2024 NCAA Championships in final meet under Eddie Reese

Texas registered the 44th top-10 finish under Hall of Fame head coach Eddie Reese.
INDIANAPOLIS – Men's Swimming and Diving finished in seventh place at the 2024 NCAA Championships on Saturday at the IU Natatorium in the final meet for legendary Longhorn head coach Eddie Reese. The Longhorns concluded the four-day national meet with 189 points.
Arizona State captured the first national title in program history with 523.5 points, with California finishing as the runner-up with 444.5 points and Florida placing third with 378 points. Indiana (376) and NC State (318) rounded out the top five.

Reese will retire after the U.S. Swimming Olympic Team Trials in late June. In his 46 years on the Forty Acres, Reese guided the Longhorns to an NCAA-record 15 national team championships, 13 NCAA runner-up finishes and 36 top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships. Under Reese's leadership, Texas earned 44 consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships and won 45 straight conference titles.
Luke Hobson, who won gold in the 200 free on Friday and silver in the 500 free on Wednesday, closed out his meet with a 11th-place performance in the 100 free, touching the wall in 41.45.
Jake Foster took 14th in the 200 breast, posting a swim of 1:52.55 and Will Modglin placed 16th in the 200 back with a time of 1:40.27.
In the diving well, Noah Duperre and Tanner Braunton each earned honorable mention All-American accolades on platform. Duperre earned 346.70 points to take 14th in the competition. It marked his third scoring event of the meet after collecting points for Texas on 1-meter and 3-meter, the second-straight year in which he scored in all three events. Braunton earned 334.05 points on platform to finish in 16th place at the first national championship meet of his career.
The Longhorns closed out the final session of the meet placing 12th in the 400 free relay. The quartet of Nate Germonprez, Hobson, Modglin and Camden Taylor combined for a swim of 2:47.76, the 12th-fastest time in program history.
MEET NOTES
- Hobson recorded the sixth-fastest 100 free in program history during the prelims with a swim of 41.35 that placed him as the fourth-fastest performer in Texas history.
- Modglin swam a 200 back personal-best 1:38.85 during the prelims, the 19th-best swim for a Longhorn.
- Foster swam 1:51.81 in the 200 breast prelims, the 16th-fastest time in program history.
- Cole Crane clocked a career-best 1:41.74 in the 200 fly prelims, improving his standing as the ninth-fastest Longhorn in the event.
