No. 11 Women’s Golf leads Big 12 Championship after opening round

Freshman Lauren Kim fires a two-under-par 69 in round one.
HOCKLEY, Texas — The University of Texas women's golf team has a two-shot lead at the Big 12 Championships at the Clubs at Houston Oaks after the opening round on Thursday.
On a day where no team in the field shot under par the Longhorns shot a two-over-par 286 in round one. Houston is second after an opening four-over par 288. TCU is third with a seven-over-par 291.
Texas freshman Lauren Kim made the turn at one-under-par and birdied 10 and 12 to get to three-under before finishing her round with a two-under-par 69. Kim was one of five players in the field that shot under par in the opening round of play and is tied for first on the leaderboard.
Farah O'Keefe birdied the 191-yard par 3 seventh hole to get to one-under and finished her round at even par.
Texas will tee off tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. Central off the 10th hole.
Texas Lineup
Lauren Kim launched her approach shot to within three feet and made birdie on hole eight for one of her four birdies on the day. Kim is tied for first on the individual leaderboard after her two-under-par 69.
Farah O'Keefe made three birdies in the opening round of the tournament and is T6 on the leaderboard after her even par round.
Selina Liao made birdies on holes two and five to start her round. Liao carded three birdies for her opening round. Liao is T17 after her two-over-par 73.
Angela Heo birdied the par 4 third hole for one of her three birdies on the day. Heo is T17 after her two-over-par 73.
Cindy Hsu carded an opening five-over-par 76 and is T45 on the individual leaderboard.
