Reese Atwood looks to break program’s single-season RBI record in non-conference matchup
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas softball's national player of the year candidate Reese Atwood will look to set a new program single-season runs batted in (RBI) record when the Longhorns taken on Nicholls at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 25 at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
TELEVISION: Alex Loeb (play by play) and Cat Osterman (analyst) will serve as the talent for the Longhorn Network broadcast.

LEADING OFF
- Thursday evening's game will mark just the second all-time meeting between Texas and Nicholls' softball programs with the first occurring on March 12, 2022, when the Longhorns knocked off the Colonels, 9-0, in five innings in a non-conference game played in Austin, Texas.
- With the release of the latest NFCA/USA Today Top 25 Poll on Tuesday, April 23, Texas has maintained the No. 1 ranking for the second consecutive week, tying the longest streak of consecutive NFCA/USA Today polls with the Longhorns sitting atop.
- Additionally, Texas has now held the top spot in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 for three consecutive weeks, which is the longest streak as the No. 1 team in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll in program history.
- Texas sophomore catcher Reese Atwood will begin Thursday night's contest against Nicholls tied with Lindsey Stephens (2014) and Taylor Thom (2013) for the most runs batted in (RBI) in the program's single-season history with 66.
- Additionally, Atwood is tied with Shannon Rhodes (2021), Lindsey Stephens (2015, 2016), Taylor Thom (2013) and Taylor Hoagland (2011) for fourth on the program's single-season home run list with 15.
- Atwood is three home runs shy of tying Taylor Hoagland's single-season program record of 18 set throughout the 2012 campaign.
- Additionally, Atwood is tied with Shannon Rhodes (2021), Lindsey Stephens (2015, 2016), Taylor Thom (2013) and Taylor Hoagland (2011) for fourth on the program's single-season home run list with 15.
- With a win over Nicholls on Thursday, Texas will earn its 20th win at Red & Charline McCombs Field this season, marking the fourth consecutive season with 20-or-more victories at Red & Charline McCombs Field for the Longhorn and the longest such streak for UT since five straight seasons with 20-or-more home wins between 2009 and 2013.
- The 2006 team set the program's single-season mark for most home wins with 32 wins in33 contests.
- If Mia Scott is credited with a base hit against Nicholls on Thursday, it would mark the fourth hitting streak by a Longhorn softball student-athlete to reach 10-or-more games this season.
- Katie Stewart (15), Kayden Henry (10) and Ashton Maloney (10) have all already accounted for hitting streaks of 10-or-longer games this season.
- A Scott hit would also mark the second consecutive season with four different Longhorn softball student-athletes reaching hitting streaks of 10-or-longer games in a single season.
