Four from No. 7 Men’s Golf named to PING All-Central Region team

CARLSBAD, Calif. — A total of four University of Texas men's golfers have earned spots on the 2024 NCAA Division I PING All-Central Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Saturday. Sophomores Christiaan Maas and Tommy Morrison, senior Nathan Petronzio and graduate Brian Stark were recognized for their accomplishments on the course this season.
Maas ranks second on the team in scoring (70.97) and has tallied four top-10 and six top-20 individual finishes this season. Twelve of his 30 rounds this year have been in the 60s and 17 have been par or better. He claimed his first collegiate career individual victory at the NCAA Austin Regional (May 13-15) with a 9-under 204 (71-67-66).
Morrison ranks third on the team in scoring average (71.33) and has posted six top-12 individual finishes this year. Thirteen of his 30 rounds this season have been in the 60s and 17 have been par or better. He recorded a collegiate career-best tie for fourth at the Western Intercollegiate (April 15-17) with a 2-under 208 (75-67-66). Morrison also placed seventh at the NCAA Austin Regional (May 13-15) with a 4-under 209 (67-69-73).
Petronzio leads the team in scoring average (70.96) and has tallied four top-10 and seven top-25 individual finishes this year. Nineteen of his 28 rounds this season have been par or better, including eight rounds in the 60s. He recorded a season-best runner-up finish at the NCAA Austin Regional (May 13-15) with an 8-under 205 (67-69-69). Petronzio earned Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors with his tie for eighth at the Big 12 Championship (April 22-24) at 4-under 284 (70-75-70-69).
Stark has competed in each of UT's first 13 events this season and sports a 71.88 scoring average. He has tallied five top-15 individual finishes this year. Seventeen of his 33 rounds this year have been par or better, including six rounds in the 60s. Stark registered a season-best tie for third place at the NCAA Austin Regional (May 13-15) with a 6-under 207 (68-68-71). He also earned Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors with his tie for sixth at the Big 12 Championship (April 22-24) at 5-under 283 (73-72-67-71).
The No. 7 Longhorns are currently competing at the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
