Men's Swimming's David Johnston advances to 1500 free final at U.S. Olympic Trials

Rising senior posts the second-fastest time in Saturday’s prelims.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — University of Texas rising senior David Johnston advanced to the final of the 1500-meter freestyle on Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming inside Lucas Oil Stadium. Johnston will compete for a spot on Team USA's Olympic roster in the final on Sunday night.
The top finisher in the individual swimming events at the U.S. Olympic Trials earns an automatic spot on the official Team USA roster, while the runner-up is considered a near lock to make the team as well.
Johnston recorded the second-fastest time in Saturday's 1500-meter freestyle prelims with a mark of 15:02.42. Bobby Finke posted the fastest time in the prelims at 14:59.04, while Charlie Clark took third in 15:04.77.
