Track and Field's Zamzow-Mahler finishes first day of heptathlon at U.S. Olympic Trials

Four Longhorns close out competition in semifinals.
EUGENE, Ore. – Texas Ex Ashtin Zamzow-Mahler sits in 11th-place in the heptathlon after four events with 3,622 points at the US Track and Field team trials.
Zamzow-Mahler began her day running the 100-meter hurdles in 13.55 seconds to score 1,043 points. The 2018 NCAA heptathlon champion moved up to seventh-place after the high jump clearing 1.79m (5-10.50) for a season-best clearance. She climbed two more spots after shot put from a season-best throw of 14.01m (45-11.75). She closed the day running the 200-meter dash in 25.76 seconds for 818 points.
Marcellus Moore closed his season in the 100-meter semifinals recording his second personal best of the weekend with his time of 10.05. He finished 15th overall.
The women's 800-meter semis saw Kendra Coleman (2:04.30) finish 23rd and Valery Tobias (2:04.33) finish 24th to end their weekend at the trials.
Logan Popelka finished 13th in the men's 400-meter semis with his time of 45.34.
