NORMAN, Okla. — University of Texas Men's Golf head coach John Fields has been named the 2024 Golf Pride Grips Central Region Coach of the Year, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Tuesday. Fields led the Longhorns to the Big 12 Championship and NCAA Austin Regional team titles during the 2023-24 season.

The Longhorns claimed three team victories during the season, including the Big 12 Match Play (Oct. 9-11), the Big 12 Championship (April 22-24) and the NCAA Austin Regional (May 13-15).
Texas finished in 13th place at the 2024 NCAA Championships and recorded its 15th top-15 finish at the NCAA Championship under the leadership of Fields, who recently completed his 27th year as head coach of the Longhorns.
