The Longhorns will compete for their first CCSA Championship in 2025.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Beach Volleyball is set to join the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) in 2025, the league office announced Friday. The Longhorns are set to compete in their first CCSA Championship when the 2025 event takes place in April in Huntsville, Ala., at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex. The 2025 National Championship will take place May 2-4 at Huntington Beach Pier in California for the first time.
Texas joins current league members Florida State, LSU and South Carolina competing in the league in 2025.
"We are dedicated to creating an outstanding and nationally competitive experience for our student-athletes and feel this is an important step in our goals of competing at the highest level and ultimately winning a NCAA Championship," said Texas Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sports Administration Sarah Baumgartner. "We have an incredible group of trailblazing student-athletes and a world- class coaching staff who already have initiated the foundation of our program. This conference affiliation helps pave the way for future success."
The Longhorns completed their second competitive season in 2024 and their first under the guidance of head coach Stein Metzger. Texas faced six nationally ranked opponents during the season and posted the first win against a ranked team with a 4-1 victory over No. 20 Texas A&M Corpus Christi to end the season.
"We are excited to join the CCSA, which provides our student-athletes the opportunity to compete against some of the nation's best," Metzger said. "I have great respect for the coaches and programs in the CCSA, and we look forward to growing together as a conference. Considering the changing landscape of college athletics, I feel confident we are joining the right group of institutions that have the motivation and resources to support women's collegiate athletics and specifically, Beach Volleyball."
The 2025 campaign marks the 10th season of Beach Volleyball for the CCSA. It added the sport in the summer of 2015, its first sport addition since the formation of the league in 2008. The CCSA was one of only five conferences to sponsor Beach Volleyball in its first year as an NCAA sport in 2016.
