Rising senior Luke Hobson finishes just .07 seconds shy of gold medal in tightly-contested final.
PARIS, France — Rising University of Texas senior Luke Hobson won a bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle final on Monday evening at the Paris Olympic Games inside the Paris La Defense Arena. This marked the second bronze medal earned by Texas Men's Swimming in the first three days of competition at the Paris Games, as former Longhorn Carson Foster claimed bronze in the 400-meter individual medley on Sunday.
In Monday night's dramatic 200 free final, Hobson posted a time of 1:44.79 to finish in third place. David Popovici of Romania claimed the gold medal with a mark of 1:44.72, while Great Britain's Matthew Richards took silver with a time of 1:44.74. Hobson's time was just .07 seconds behind Popovici for gold.
