Texas set to travel to Mississippi for first road SEC match in Starkville
AUSTIN, Texas – Less than 72 hours after playing the first-ever Southeastern Conference (SEC) match on the Forty Acres, the Texas Longhorn women's soccer program will now play its first ever SEC match on the road when head coach Angela Kelly and her squad travel to Starkville, Miss., to play No. 24 Mississippi State at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.
TELEVISION: Anthony Craven and Cody Blaszczak will serve as the television talent for Sunday night's SEC Network+ broadcast available to watch on the ESPN app.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Sunday night's match between Texas and Mississippi State will mark the first-ever meeting between the two women's soccer programs.
- During her tenue at Tennessee (2000-11), head coach Angela Kelly posted a 9-2-0 record against the Bulldogs.
- Kelly will enter Sunday evening's action having won her last five consecutive meetings against Mississippi State.
- Over the course of her time on Rocky Top, Kelly lost to Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss., just one time: Sept. 24, 2006.
- Kelly has a 4-1-0 all-time record against Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss.

- Following her two-assist performance against Alabama on Thursday night, Texas senior midfielder Lexi Missimo will enter Sunday's competition tied for 18th on the NCAA Division I career assist list.

- With four more assists over her next four matches, Lexi Missimo will join UC Santa Barbara's Carin Jennings as the only Division I women's soccer student-athletes to reach the 60-career assist mark while playing in 80-or-fewer career matches.
- Jennings (60) achieved the feat in just 79 career matches during a four-year career from 1983 to 1986.
- When Texas and Mississippi State take the pitch at MSU Soccer Field on Sunday, it will mark the first-ever women's soccer match to take place in the state of Mississippi for the Longhorns.
- Prior to Sunday's match, the only time UT even played a team based in Mississippi occurred on Nov. 14, 2003, when Texas played Ole Miss in Gainesville, Fla., in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament.
- Throughout her time on the Forty Acres, head coach Angela Kelly is 16-10-4 all time in matches following a tie.
- Texas has won its last four consecutive matches following a tie and has not dropped a match following a tie since Sept. 9, 2021, when the Longhorns dropped a match to Oregon, 1-0, in Austin.
- Oct. 13, 2017 (2-1 loss at Kansas) was the last time a Kelly-led squad lost a road match following a tie at home (1-1 tie against TCU on Oct. 6).
