No. 1 Volleyball sweeps Indiana

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Volleyball swept Indiana, 25-8, 25-21, 25-22, in front of a sold-out crowd for the home opener at Gregory Gymnasium on Thursday.
The Longhorns (2-1) celebrated the 2023 team before the match by unveiling the National Championship banner in the rafters.
Texas finished the match with .385 hitting percentage, while holding Indiana to an .074 hitting percentage.
Madisen Skinner led the way with 14 kills, five digs, two aces and two assists, while hitting .357 in the match. Reagan Rutherford finished with nine kills and a .538 hitting percentage.
Marianna Singletary had a team-high four blocks and added eight kills with a .636 hitting percentage.
Emma Halter had a good all-around match with nine digs, seven assists and four service aces.
The Longhorns stormed out of the gates and rolled to an emphatic 25-8 win the opening set. Texas was outstanding all around and served six aces, while hitting .625 in the set. The Longhorns also had three blocks in the set and held the Hoosiers to a negative hitting percentage.
Indiana started the second set extremely well, jumping out to a huge early lead and holding a 17-11 lead. Texas then came storming back from down six to tie the set up at 20-all and went on to win it 25-21.
The Hoosiers started well in the third set as well and got out to a 5-1 lead before the Longhorns rallied back to take the set 25-22.
Texas will be back at home to host Miami on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Gregory Gymnasium.
