Shay Holle becomes all-time winningest player in the NCAA Era in program history with 126 victories.
AUBURN, Ala. — Madison Booker and Rori Harmon combined for 42 points and Shay Holle became the all-time winningest player in the NCAA Era in program history as the No. 7 Texas women's basketball team beat Auburn, 74-57 on Thursday.
Holle played in her 151st game at Texas on Thursday in Auburn. In her time at Texas the Longhorns are 126-34. Texas has a 60-13 record in games Holle has started in her career. Holle scored seven points in the game and added three rebounds and two steals.
Booker led Texas (17-2, 4-1) with 22 points and added six rebounds and three steals. Harmon scored 20 points and led Texas with six assists. Taylor Jones scored 15 points and added a team-high seven rebounds.
The Longhorns used a 10-0 run in the first quarter and Kayla Oldacre made a strong move to the basket and put it in to give Texas a 21-12 lead. Texas held Auburn without a field goal the final 4:08 of the opening period.
Booker scored 12 points in the second period and finished the half with 17 points. Booker knocked down a pair of free-throws to give Texas 13 straight points and a 39-20 lead. Texas kept the momentum as they outscored Auburn 23-11 in the second quarter to take a 44-23 lead at halftime.
The Longhorns connected on 20-of-23 from the free-throw line down the stretch to keep themselves ahead.
Up next, the Longhorns travel to Newark, N.J. to take on Maryland in the Coretta Scott King Classic at the Prudential Center on Monday, Jan. 20 with a 4:30 p.m. CT tip.
