AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving's Nick Harris was named the SEC's Diver of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. It's his second SEC weekly honor this season after previously being tabbed SEC Diver of the Week on Oct. 15.
A junior from Chester Springs, Pa., Harris helped Texas claim three dual meet victories over top-25 programs at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown on Jan. 24-25 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The Longhorns defeated No. 4 Arizona State (193-159), No. 6 North Carolina State (244.5-107.5) and No. 18 Virginia (272-80).
Harris swept the 1 and 3-meter events over the weekend. Harris won the 1-meter with a season-high score of 394.15 points while also claiming first in the 3-meter dive after scoring a season-best 411.55 points – the only competitor to surpass 400 points. Harris led Texas to sweep the top-three spots in both diving events at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown.
Up next, Harris and Texas welcome No. 17 Texas A&M to Austin at 3 p.m. CT Friday, Jan. 31. It'll also double as Senior Day for the Longhorns. Texas will then host the Sterkel Classic at 11 a.m. on Feb. 1 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
