No. 2 Volleyball records eighth-straight sweep against LSU to remain unbeaten

Spears posts 16 kills and Stafford adds eighth double-double of the year in Sunday's win.
AUSTIN, Texas. — No. 2 Texas Volleyball swept LSU 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-18) for the eighth-straight time, improving to 18-0 (10-0 SEC) behind freshman Cari Spears' 16 kills.
Torrey Stafford added 13 digs and 10 kills for her eighth double-double of the season, while senior libero Emma Halter registered two aces to reach 100 career aces. The Longhorns combined for 12 blocks behind Stafford, Ayden Ames and Taylor Harvey who each boasted three blocks.
The Longhorns have now won 58 of their last 60 road matches dating back to the 2019 season. Texas remains undefeated (13-0) after two seasons in road conference matches in the SEC. Sunday's match marked 15 consecutive wins against the Tigers, dating back to 1991. Head coach Jerritt Elliott remains undefeated against the Tigers.
Set One: The Longhorns took the close first set 27-25 after the teams exchanged the lead 12 times. Texas finished the set with a 3-0 run behind Spears who led the charge with six kills and Ella Swindle's nine assists. The Longhorns limited LSU's offense to a .130 hitting percentage and forced 16 total errors.
Set Two: Texas took the 2-0 lead behind Stafford and freshman Abby Vander Wal's five kills each. The Horns registered 18 kills to LSU's 14 to take the favorable lead.
Set Three: The Longhorns posted its best hitting set in the third, recording 14 kills off 26 attacks. To hit .423. Texas recorded all four aces in the third and added six blocks to limit the LSU offense to a .267 hitting percentage.
Texas will travel to College Station for its final stop of its three-match road trip to face off against Texas A&M on Friday, Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
