Cross Country men finish 7th, women 13th at SEC Championships

Longhorns led by Elizabeth Pickett and Nathanael Berhane with All-SEC honors
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Nathanael Berhane and Elizabeth Pickett earned All-SEC honors at the SEC Cross Country Championships on Friday morning. Texas men finished seventh with 168 points in the 8K, while the women were 13th with 297 points.
Berhane led the Longhorns with his 15th-place finish running the 8K in 23:42.3 and moved up two spots in the final kilometer. It's the second time this season Berhane has been the top finisher for Texas and earned All-SEC Third Team honors for his finish.
Freshman Danny Torres was the next Longhorn across the finish line in 24:07.41 in 28th. Senior Hudson Heikkinen finished four spots behind in 32nd with his time of 24:12.82 for a 20-spot improvement from last season.
Junior Hudson Bennett was the fourth Longhorn to score with his time of 24:26.16. Tadhg Donnelly finished 51st in his first SEC Championship with his time of 24:29.75, while Trey Rios was 69th in 25:00.61 and Joaquin de la Cruz was 74th in 25:06.87.
Pickett led Texas with her All-SEC Second Team honors after finishing 14th with her time of 20:28.61 in the 6K. She finished two places higher than last season. Sophomore Kaylin Rendon finished 69th in 21:43.34, Brighton Mooney was right behind in 70th in 21:44.46 and Natasja Beijen was 79th in 21:57.14.
Aishling Callanan (22:01.65), Anna Christie (22:03.59) and Mia Perez (22:04.67) were the final Horns to score for Texas.
The Longhorns will compete on Nov. 14 at the NCAA South Central Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark.
