Cross Country preview: NCAA South Central Regionals

Longhorns travel to Fayetteville to compete on Friday morning.
AUSTIN, Texas- The Texas cross country program returns to action for the NCAA South Central Regionals in Fayetteville, Arkansas on November 14th. The women are scheduled to compete in the 6K at 9 a.m., followed by the men's 10K at 10 a.m.
In 2024 the women finished second with 81 points to reach the NCAA Cross Country Championships, while the men finished third with 84 points.
The Longhorn men finished seventh with 168 points in the 8k and the women were 13th with 297 points in the 6k behind seniors Elizabeth Pickett and Nathaneal Berhane who earned All-SEC honors at the SEC Cross Country Championships.
For the second time this season, Berhane led the Longhorn finishers finishing the race 15th overall. He was followed by freshman Aidan Torres and senior Hudson Heikkinen who finished 28th and 32nd, respectively. Junior Hudson Bennett, senior Tadgh Donnelly, Graduate Trey Rios and freshman Joaquin De La Cruz were the remaining Longhorns to score points.
Pickett led the women's team completing the 6k with a time of 20:28.61 finishing 14th overall. Sophomore Kaylin Rendon and senior Brighton Mooney finished the race 69th and 70th overall, followed by senior Natasja Beijen who was 79th. Junior Aishling Callanan, graduate transfer Annie Christie, and freshman Mia Perez were the final Longhorns to score points at the event.
The last time at Agri Park, the Longhorn women defended its team title at the Chile Pepper Invitational behind Pickett's third-place finish and personal best time of 16:15.4 in the 5K.
