No. 2 Men’s Swimming sees Germonprez break pool and team records in 100 breast at Texas Invitational

Texas highlights Day 2 with personal-best 400 IM swims from Nelson and Lucas and a personal-best 200 free victory from Wimberly.
AUSTIN, Texas — No. 2 Texas Men's Swimming delivered a record-setting performance on Day 2 of the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invite, led by Nate Germonprez, who established new pool and team records in the 100 breaststroke to headline a night that also featured personal-best 400 IM swims from Baylor Nelson and Cooper Lucas and a personal-best 200 free victory from Jacob Wimberly.
Texas opened the night with two A-final finishes in the 100 fly. Garrett Gould led the group with a third-place finish in 45.40, while Kyle Peck followed in seventh at 45.95. In the B final, Alec Filipovic and Ryan Branon tied for 11th in 46.50, and Holden Smith added an 18th-place performance in 47.32.
Texas posted two personal-best outings in the 400 IM, as Nelson won the event in 3:34.83 and Lucas followed in 3:35.28. Rex Maurer added fifth in 3:40.58. In the B final, Spencer Aurnou-Rhees recorded a 3:44.42, and Alec Enyeart added a 3:45.48.
The 200 free produced another strong showing for the Longhorns as Wimberly claimed the win in a personal-best 1:31.51. Camden Taylor added a runner-up finish in 1:32.38, while Calvin Fry placed sixth in 1:33.71 and Manning Haskal followed in eighth at 1:35.52. Additional scoring came from Kobe Ndebele (1:37.38) and Aiden Hammer (1:37.77) in the B final.
Texas closed the session with a dominant performance in the 100 breast. Germonprez's 49.71 broke both the pool and team records, with Campbell McKean finishing second in 50.37, Will Modglin taking third in 50.91 and Will Scholtz placing fourth. Chase Davison added a D-final score with a 1:03.44.
The Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational will continue Thursday, Nov. 20, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
