Texas sweeps the 200 breast and adds multiple top-eight finishes across the session.
AUSTIN, Texas — Junior Will Modglin powered No. 1 Texas on Day 3 of the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational, opening the session with a 43.26 American and pool record in the 100 back during prelims before finishing second in the final at 43.37.
Texas dominated the 200 breast, sweeping the top four spots. Will Scholtz won the event in 1:49.59, followed by Nate Germonprez (1:49.80), Baylor Nelson (1:50.71) and Campbell McKean (1:51.82), all hitting invited standards.
In the 100 back, Modglin won the event with a 43.37 after setting an American and pool record in prelims, while Kyle Peck added a seventh-place finish in 46.55.
Texas also placed four in the top eight of the 500 free, led by Rex Maurer, who took the win in 4:11.07. Cooper Lucas finished second in 4:11.59, Jacob Wimberly placed fifth in 4:14.93 and Manning Haskal finished eighth. In the B-final, Alec Enyeart earned 10th overall in 4:16.25 and Aiden Hammer added a 12th-place finish in 4:19.27. In the C-final, Spencer Aurnou-Rhees posted a 4:21.95 and Sasha Lyubavskiy followed in 4:23.79.
In the 50 free, sophomore Garrett Gould sprinted to a personal-best win in 18.99, while Calvin Fry placed fourth in 19.25. Camden Taylor (11th, 19.70) and Kobe Ndebele (13th, 19.77) added scoring from the B-final.
Texas closed the night by winning the 400 medley relay in 3:00.34 behind Will Modglin, Nate Germonprez, Garrett Gould and Camden Taylor. Texas also fielded a "C" relay that posted a 3:06.58 with Baylor Nelson, Will Scholtz, Alec Filipovic and Calvin Fry.
The Texas Invitational concludes tomorrow at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, with prelims set for 10:00 a.m. and finals scheduled for 6:00 p.m CT.
