Longhorns swept McNeese and Central Arkansas on Saturday to open 2025 season
HOUSTON, Texas – No. 15 Texas Beach Volleyball opened the 2025 season on Saturday at the Third Coast College Classic with wins over McNeese and Central Arkansas.
In its opening dual, the Longhorns swept McNeese winning on all five courts in two sets. To close out the day, the Longhorns defeated Central Arkansas, 3-0.
In the first dual of the day, Texas took a 2-0 lead with back-to-back two-set wins, 21-11, 21-8, from both the No. 5 (Noa Sonneville/Macey Butler) and No. 3 (Karin Zolnercikova, Maddison Parmelly) pairs. The No. 4 pair of Kylie Wickley and Ava Patton then added on another win, 21-12, 21-15 followed by a 21-14, 21-10 win from the No. 1 pair of Katie Hashman and Emma Grace Robertson. After going into extra points in the first set, the No. 2 pair of Chloe Charles and Eva Liisa Kuivonen solidified the sweep for the Longhorns with a 22-20, 21-13 win.
Texas added another sweep against Central Arkansas with the No. 1 pair (Hashman/Robertson) winning in straight sets, 21-13, 21-10 adding the first point for the Longhorns. The No. 4 pair of Sonneville and Butler added another win, 21-11, 21-13, followed by a 21-14, 21-10 win from the No. 3 pair of Wickley and Patton.
The matches from the No. 2 (Charles/Kuivonen) and No. 5 (Patton/Johnson) pair were truncated.
Texas will return tomorrow with matches against Sam Houston at 8 a.m., UTEP at 10 a.m., and host school HCU at 2:30 p.m.
