Longhorns earn first conference honor of the season
AUSTIN, Texas – Chloe Charles and Eva Liisa Kuivonen were tabbed with CCSA's Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week for the first time this season.
The Longhorn's No. 1 pair helped the No. 10-ranked team earn three top 15 dual match wins at the East vs. West Invitational. The pair took down No. 13 Grand Canyon in straight sets (21-15, 23-21) to start the weekend.
The duo later had all eyes on them as they took the No. 2 LMU pair to three sets, winning the final two sets (15-21, 21-18, 15-12) to give UT the 3-2 dual win and its top-ranked win of the season. They capped the weekend defeating No. 11, Arizona State, in another three-set thriller. The Longhorns earned the 4-1 win for UT on its sixth match point, defeating the Sun Devils, 21-16, 16-21, 23-21.
It's the first career CCSA weekly award for Charles and Kuivonen and for the Longhorns.
