Incoming Beach Volleyball trio earns medals at AVP Juniors National Championships

Grimes wins gold, Scherfenberg claims silver and Wise captures bronze in 18U competition.
HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – Three incoming Texas Beach Volleyball student-athletes earned podium finishes Friday at the 2026 AVP Juniors National Championships at Hermosa Beach Pier.
Ella Grimes captured the 18U national championship alongside partner Lauren Leach, defeating fellow incoming Longhorn Bella Scherfenberg and partner Brynn Hughbanks in the championship match to earn the gold medal. Scherfenberg and Hughbanks finished as national runners-up, claiming the silver medal.
Leann Wise teamed with Janie McCanna to earn a third-place finish in the 18U division, capturing the bronze medal.
With their performances, Grimes, Scherfenberg and Wise each secured bids to the 2026 AVP Juniors All-American Invitational, set for Aug. 15-16 in Manhattan Beach, California.
The trio will join the Longhorns this fall.
