Notables
• ELITE EIGHT: The Longhorns are making their 13th appearance in program history in the Elite Eight. Head Coach Vic Schaefer has guided Texas to the Elite Eight in four of his five seasons in Austin. Going back to his time at Mississippi State, Schaefer is one of three coaches that have led teams to the Elite Eight in seven of the last eight seasons.
• 34 WINS: Texas won their 34th game of the season on Saturday in the Sweet 16. That matches the win total of the 1986 National Championship Longhorns team. The program record in the NCAA Era for wins is 35, set in the 1981-82 season.
• THE SWEET 16 WIN: Texas held Tennessee to nine points in the fourth quarter on the way to a 67-59 victory in the Sweet 16. Four Texas players scored in double figured led by 17 from Madison Booker. Freshmen Jordan Lee and Bryanna Preston combined for 25 points and Taylor Jones added 12 points. Texas held Tennessee to 28 points below their season scoring average and it marked the 23rd time this season the Longhorns have held an opponent to 59 points or less in a game.
• CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS: In their first year in the SEC the Longhorns captured the regular season championship. Texas beat every team in the conference on the way to a 15-1 regular season record. It marks the fourth straight season Texas has won a regular season or conference tournament championship.
• BOOKER FINALIST FOR WADE TROPHY: Madison Booker was named one of four finalists for the Wade Trophy. The award, presented by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association honors the best player in women's college basketball each season.
• 3 ALL-AMERICANS: Madison Booker earned Associated Press All-America honors, while Rori Harmon and Taylor Jones each earned All-America honorable mention honors.
• RANKED WINS: The Longhorns won their 10th game of the season against an AP-top 25 team and sixth win over an AP-top 10 team with their win over No. 9 LSU. Texas became the first program in 20 years to win three straight games over top-10 teams. With the win over Tennessee, Texas now has 11 wins over AP-top 25 teams on the season.
