Kavan earns three weekly honors following No. 1/1 Softball’s sweep

Teagan Kavan selected as the SEC’s Pitcher of the Week for the third time in 2025.
AUSTIN, Texas – Following a stellar performance in the pitching circle throughout Texas' three-game series at Missouri over the weekend, Longhorn sophomore right-handed pitcher Teagan Kavan was selected as the SEC and D1Softball's Pitcher of the Week, while Softball America tabbed her as one of its four Stars of the Week.
Over the weekend, Kavan earned two wins and a save during her three appearances in the circle to help Texas claim the series sweep at Missouri. She also posted a 1.02 earned run average (ERA) to go along with 26 strikeouts and a .143 opponent batting average in 13.2 innings of work. She finished the weekend with a 1.97 strikeout-per-inning average and did not walk any of the 51 batters she faced. In fact, she only went to a 3-ball count to seven of the opposing Tiger batters.
Kavan opened the weekend by tossing her first career no-hitter on Saturday, April 5 as the sophomore blanked the Missouri offense for the duration of the game's five innings in UT's 8-0 victory. The only Tiger baserunners during the came via two Longhorn fielding errors. She returned to the circle the next day to close out game one of the day's doubleheader and struck out two of the three batters faced.
For the weekend, Kavan struck out two-or-more batters in the same inning 10 different times and struck out the side on three separate occasions. She recorded a pair of 10-digit strikeout performances to push her career double-digit strikeout total to seven.
To claim the series sweep, Kavan started the series finale and struck out 13 of 31 batters faced in eight innings of work, while, not walking a batter.
UP NEXT
Texas (37-3, 10-2) will break from SEC action for a non-conference mid-week game against Texas State (25-11) at 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 9. The game will be shown on SEC Network.
- The Longhorns will resume conference play on Friday, April 11, when UT takes on Tennessee at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
