No. 6 Women’s Golf tied for third place after opening round of NCAA Championship

Lauren Kim shot 4-under 68 to lead the Longhorns on day one.
CARLSBAD, Calif. — The No. 6 Texas Women's Golf team finished tied for third after the first day of the NCAA Championship on Friday at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
The Longhorns carded thirteen birdies in the first round, and finished the with an even-par 288, trailing Vanderbilt, who went 6-under 282, and Oklahoma State, who went 4-under 284. Texas is tied at third place along with Arizona State, Oregon, and Florida.
Lauren Kim shot four birdies in the back nine holes and totaled five birdies on the day. Kim went 4-under 68 and is tied at second on the individual leaderboard, trailing only Bailey Davis of Tennessee, who went 5-under 67. Angela Heo finished even-par 72 after first day of stroke play along with three birdies.
"I think everyone can say the greens are a little less firm so it's a little more enjoyable to play," Lauren Kim said. "It makes the greens look a little bit bigger because we have a bigger landing area. The course is in great shape this year and it's a great test for us."
Texas will tee off tomorrow at 8:52 a.m. CT and will once again be paired with Florida State and Oregon.
The Lineup
Lauren Kim carded five birdies to conclude day one with 4-under 68. This is the 11th time this season Kim has shot in the 60s and 16th in her career. She is T2 on the individual leaderboard.
Angela Heo shot three birdies and finished the day even-par 72. Heo is T28 on the individual leaderboard.
Farah O'Keefe went 1-over 73 on the first round and carded three birdies. O'Keefe hit the flag stick on the par-3, 16th hole and made a short birdie putt. O'Keefe is T46 on the individual leaderboard.
Cindy Hsu went 3-over 75 and birdied on hole two on day one of stroke play. Hsu is T78 on the individual leaderboard.
Bohyun Park birdied hole two and went 4-over 76 after the first round. Park is T98 on the individual leaderboard.
