Longhorn Nation,
Today I write to you from Destin, Fla., where we set up shop for a week of SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE SPRING MEETINGS with several of our coaches and our campus leaders. It's a very important time for critical discussions, an opportunity for fellowship with our league's leadership and coaches from every school in year two for us with our conference family. Commissioner Sankey provides informative updates throughout the week; we'll discuss the ever-changing landscape of college sports and how we remain in the forefront of it, and enjoy talking through the exciting first year in our conference where it "Just Means More." Keep an eye on all the SEC platforms to stay abreast of all the news and happenings.
Before we recap the week that was and get into another exciting week of Texas Athletics that is already underway, we must take time to pay our respects. This week began with gratitude and appreciation as we honored those who have served our great nation on MEMORIAL DAY. It is a day to reflect, remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. It's also a time to share and cherish what makes our country great and the values these national heroes have defended and upheld. We are so incredibly grateful!
today and every day we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country 🇺🇸 #HookEm | #MemorialDay pic.twitter.com/qOY1oZAbLi

And Longhorn Nation, we are beyond grateful for all of you, so let's get this party started with a victory lap for Coach White and Softball's sensational stampede to the Women's College World Series (for the second-straight year and third time in four years, to boot!). Oh my, IT WAS AN ELECTRIC SCENE for all three games at Red & Charline McCombs Field last week, and I must say the Longhorn faithful are simply the best, my friends! Y'all were right by our side burning the midnight oil, enduring a lengthy weather delay then an exhilarating extra-inning edge-of-our-seat nailbiter, and all the glorious thrills of victory after a brief agony of defeat. When we recorded that final out in Saturday's 6-5 barn burner, I know we all took a deep breath and raised our Horns to the sky with joy! Through it all, y'all were TEXAS TOUGH, withstood every test, overcame all challenges and brought your patented passion, pride and Texas Fight, as did Coach White and our Longhorns! Clemson put up a mighty fight, but our Horns dug deep after a Friday night defeat to tame the Tigers, win the regional championship, raise that trophy high and make their way to Oklahoma City once again. But folks, we're not done yet, this squad has their eyes on the prize, and it all starts in round one against Florida on Thursday (11 a.m. CT/ESPN). Get those Horns Up, folks, and let's Hook 'Em!
just doing what we do 🤩🤘#HookEm pic.twitter.com/1bEk3vDIqO

And before we get too far into the notes, here's to our weekly pride and winning tradition flex. With Softball headed to the WCWS and Men's Golf in NCAA Match Play, that puts them among the final eight teams still standing in their NCAA Tourneys, making it — count 'em up, folks — SEVEN of our programs that have reached at least the Elite Eight of their NCAA Tournaments & the College Football Playoff this year. Softball and Men's Golf join Final Four squads Women's Basketball, Football and Men's Tennis, as well as Elite Eight teams from Women's Golf and Beach Volleyball. How about that for something to puff your chest out and brag about this week? And there's still a whole lot left to play for as we hit the final stretch of the 2024-25 season!
With @TexasMGolf advancing to 8-team Match Play round of NCAA Championships, that makes 7️⃣ Longhorn programs that have reached at least Elite 8 of NCAA Tourneys/CFP this year (@TexasWBB, @TexasFootball & @TexasMTN Final 4 / @TexasWGolf, @TexasSoftball & @TexasBeachVB Elite 8)🤘🏻 https://t.co/LmOHaWyGn3

Now it's Coach Schloss and Baseball's turn to take on the NCAA Tourney with the ROAD TO OMAHA beginning right here at UFCU Disch-Falk Field for our regional top seed Texas Longhorns this week. The bracket was revealed on Monday, and our SEC Champion Horns were tabbed the No. 2 overall seed. We'll get things started with Houston Christian on Friday at 1 p.m. CT, and also welcome UTSA and Kansas State to Austin. I know y'all will be fired up to bring the heat to The Disch as our Horns look to thrive and advance. Get your Burnt Orange & White best ready, keep those Horns UP all week, and we'll see you at the yard! Oh, and here's to all of our Longhorns who earned All-SEC Baseball honors last week! It was quite the haul, including Coach of the Year for our awesome leader Coach Schloss (and what a fun surprise this was for Coach)!

Coach Fields Men's Golf is TAKING DEAD AIM on the NCAA Championship as we speak! After a solid four rounds of stroke play, that squad has advanced to Match Play once again where they start out against Florida this morning. That's the equivalent of the Elite Eight in an NCAA Tourney Bracket, and with both our women's program last week and now the men this week advancing to that round, we are one of only two schools that had both programs reach match play this year. How about that for all around greatness and something we all can certainly brag about?! In addition to Baseball, Men's Golf, Rowing and Softball all competing in NCAA action, Coach Flo and Track and Field head to College Station this week for NCAA Regionals looking to punch their tickets to the NCAA Championships.

To the victors go the spoils, and with the NCAA Rowing Championships starting for our DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPS on Friday in Mercer County, N.J., here's to a whole bunch of SEC awards for our conference champions! Congrats to Coach of the Year "Captain" Dave O'Neill, Rower of the Year Marg Van der Wal, Freshman of the Year Imy Grey, and all nine members of our First Varsity Eight, who were All-SEC. Now let's go get that Natty!
And hey, we started the countdown to Football last week when we hit 100 days until kickoff, it's 95 now and we can't wait to get things started with our epic matchup at Ohio State. It will be here before you know it, and we'll be right back at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium one week after that for a big 'ol Family Reunion!
