Katie Stewart becomes second Longhorn to earn multiple career NFCA Player of the Week honors.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Just a day after being selected as the SEC's Player of the Week, Texas sophomore slugger Katie Stewart was chosen by the NFCA as the organization's Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
This honor is Stewart's second career NFCA Player of the Week selection after picking up the honor on April 30, 2024, when she also picked up a Big 12 Player of the Week honor on the same day. Stewart joins teammate Reese Atwood as the only Longhorn softball student-athletes in program history to be selected as the NFCA's National Player of the Week on multiple occasions throughout their career on the Forty Acres.
Stewart keyed the Longhorns to a three-game sweep of Kentucky, batting .778 with a double, home run, four RBI and six runs scored. She slugged 1.222 and posted a .800 on-base percentage. She recorded her second career four-hit game, which included a home run and two RBI in game two. Stewart matched a career high with three runs scored to go along with a double and two more RBI in the series finale. She was 6-for-6 over the final two games of the three-game series.
