Texas leads the SEC with seven all-conference selections.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 14 other softball head coaches around the Southeastern Conference took notice of Mike White's 2025 squad as the Texas Longhorns earned a league-best seven All-SEC honorees when the conference announced its postseason awards on Friday afternoon.
Reese Atwood, Teagan Kavan, Mia Scott and Joley Mitchell were all selected to the All-SEC First Team, making Texas the only program with four first-team selections. Kayden Henry, Ashton Maloney and Katie Stewart were appointed to the All-SEC Second Team, tying the Longhorns with Arkansas, LSU and Texas A&M for the most second-team honorees.
In total, seven different Texas softball student-athletes earned All-SEC honors, which were the most by any SEC softball program. Texas A&M had five, while Arkansas, Florida, LSU and Oklahoma all had four each.
Additionally, Atwood (catcher) and Maloney (right field) were selected to the SEC's All-Defensive Team, which honored one student-athlete at each position with the exception of pitcher, which had two honorees.
Scott, a four-year senior, will conclude her collegiate softball career having earned all-conference honors in each of her four seasons on the Forty Acres: 2022 (All-Big 12 Second Team), 2023-24 (All-Big 12 First Team), 2025 (All-SEC First Team). This is Atwood and Maloney's third consecutive all-conference honor after both were selected to the Big 12's Second Team in 2023 and First Team in 2024.
Kavan is the first Longhorn softball student-athlete since Janae Jefferson (2018-19) to earn all-conference first team honors during their freshman and sophomore seasons on the Forty Acres.
2025 marks the second consecutive season Henry and Stewart were selected to a league's all-conference second team after the duo picked up All-Big 12 Second Team honors following the 2024 campaign. This is Mitchell's first postseason all-conference honor since earning a spot on the All-ACC First Team as a member of the Notre Dame softball program during the 2023 season.
