No. 2 Volleyball's Halter named SEC Player and Defensive Player of the Week

Emma Halter earns her second career SEC Defensive weekly honor.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball's Emma Halter was named both SEC Player of the Week and SEC Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. This marks the second time in her career that Halter has claimed SEC Defensive Player of the Week recognition, as she previously earned the accolade on Sept. 2, 2024, and the first time Halter has been honored as SEC Player of the Week.
Halter led the Longhorns to sweeps over two top-12 ranked teams at the 2025 Opening Spike Classic in Madison, Wisc, over the weekend. On Friday, Halter tallied 14 digs and two assists to pace Texas to a win over No. 12 Creighton. She returned on Sunday to record 14 digs and seven assists to lead the Longhorns to a victory at No. 8 Wisconsin before a crowd of over 11,000 fans. Halter's defensive efforts helped limit the Badgers to a .141 attack percentage and 26 attack errors.
Over the two matches in Wisconsin, the Longhorns held their opponents to a combined .130 attack percentage. Halter currently ranks in a tie for second in the SEC at 4.67 digs per set.
