No. 2 Volleyball's Spears and Swindle earn SEC weekly honors

Cari Spears named SEC Player of the Week for second-straight week.
AUSTIN, Texas – Cari Spears and Ella Swindle of the No. 2 Texas Volleyball program each earned SEC weekly honors, the league announced on Monday.
Spears was tabbed with both the SEC Player of the Week and SEC Freshman of the Week award for the second straight week. It's also the third time in her career being tabbed the SEC Freshman of the Week. Spears recorded 28 kills in two matches and averaged a .600 attack percentage against No. 9 TCU and No. 21 Baylor. She led the team with a career high 18 kills over the Horned Frogs and added four digs and three blocks.
Swindle was also tabbed with her first SEC Setter of the Week honor after leading the team to a .425 hitting percentage against two ranked teams. The Longhorns recorded 94 kills to its opponents 56, while Swindle also averaged 11 assists per set. Swindle lead the team with 35 assists against TCU and 31 against the Bears.
The Longhorns have now won at least one SEC award since the start of the season.
