No. 2 Volleyball's Stafford and Vander Wal earn SEC weekly honors

Vander Wal makes it four-straight SEC Freshman of the Week honors for Texas.
AUSTIN, Texas – Torrey Stafford and Abby Vander Wal earned SEC weekly honors on Monday after leading Texas to a 2-0 start in SEC play and improved to 10-0 on the season.
Stafford earned her third SEC honor after being named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after leading Texas in kills in both matches. The Torrance, Calif., native recorded 14 kills and two blocks in the win over Vanderbilt and hit a staggering .620 in the match. She followed with 15 kills in the sweep over No. 21 Missouri and added three aces to help Texas sweep its fifth-straight opponent.
Stafford was named the SEC Offensive and SEC Player of the Week on Sept. 8.
Vander Wal earned her first SEC weekly award sharing the SEC Freshman of the Week honor with Zoe Humphrey of Tennessee. Vander Wal recorded 19 kills and averaged a .316 hitting percentage in her first conference matches. She totaled 10 kills and hit .563 against Vanderbilt while adding one assist, two digs and one block. She tallied nine more kills against the Tigers and two blocks.
Vander Wal's award makes it four-straight weeks a Longhorn has won the SEC Freshman of the Week award. Cari Spears has won it the last three weeks.
