No. 1 Men’s Golf’s Morrison helps Team USA claim the 2025 Walker Cup

Texas senior earns wins in both foursomes and singles on Sunday to lead USA to 17-9 victory over Great Britain and Ireland.
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — University of Texas senior Tommy Morrison earned two full points with wins in foursomes and singles on Sunday to help Team USA post a 17-9 victory over Great Britain and Ireland in the 50th Walker Cup Match at Cypress Point Club. This marked the largest margin of victory in the Walker Cup since Team USA claimed a 19-7 win in 2017 at Los Angeles Country Club.
In Sunday morning's foursomes action, Morrison paired with Auburn's Jackson Koivun and rallied for a 1-up victory over Connor Graham and Tyler Weaver. Morrison and Koivun jumped out to a 2-up lead through the opening five holes, but Graham and Weaver responded by winning four of the next five holes to grab a 2-up lead through 10 holes. Morrison and Koivun pulled to within 1-down after winning the 12th hole. Still trailing 1-down through 16 holes, Morrison made a par putt to win the 17th hole and even the match. On the final hole, Koivun sank a par putt to win the hole and close out the comeback victory.
In Sunday afternoon's singles play, Morrison earned another full point for Team USA with a 3 & 2 victory against Niall Shiels Donegan. With the match all square through six holes, Morrison won holes 7 and 8 to build a 2-up cushion. Shiels Donegan earned a win on 11 but Morrison answered with a win on 12 to keep the 2-up lead. Shiels Donegan claimed a win on 13 but again Morrison responded with a win on 14 to keep the margin at 2-up. Morrison sank a par putt on 16 to win the hole and close out his 3 & 2 victory.
Morrison and the Longhorns will return to the course at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup on Sept. 15-17 (Monday-Wednesday) at Shoreacres Golf Club in Lake Bluff, Ill.
