No. 2 Volleyball's Spears and Stafford earn SEC weekly honors

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball's Torrey Stafford and Cari Spears were tabbed with SEC weekly honors after another 2-0 week of competition. Stafford was awarded both SEC Overall and Offensive Player of the Week, while Spears was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
Stafford led Texas in both matches in kills, recording 42 over nine sets. In the Rice match, Stafford led both teams with a career high 24 kills, hit .457 and recorded 12 digs and two aces. She added her third double-double as a Longhorn in the win over No. 6 Stanford at Moody Center in front of a state of Texas record 10,899 fans. Her five kills late in the fifth set led the Longhorns to its first 4-0 start since 2022.
It's the second-straight week a Longhorn has been named the SEC Overall Player of the Week after Emma Halter earned the award after week one.
Spears showed no mercy to her competition this week, hitting .309 after nine sets and registered 25 total kills. She recorded a career-high 14 in the 3-2 win over Stanford and added 11 against Rice. Spears was dominant against the Owls connecting on 11 swings to hit .385. She's second on the team in kills behind Stafford this season.
