No. 9 Volleyball falls in three sets at Oklahoma

Stafford leads Texas with 17 kills; Longhorns push third set to extra points.
NORMAN, Okla. – No. 9 Texas Volleyball fell to Oklahoma, 25-23, 25-18, 30-28, at McCasland Field House on Sunday afternoon.
The Longhorns (8-6, 4-2 SEC) saw their three-match winning streak snapped, while Oklahoma improved to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in SEC play.
Torrey Stafford led Texas with a team-high 17 kills while hitting .346. Henley Anderson recorded double-digit kills for the fourth consecutive match, finishing with 12 kills, eight digs and four blocks. Addy Gaido added six kills on nine swings for a .667 hitting percentage.
Ramsey Gary recorded a match-high 18 digs and added five assists, while Rella Binney dished out 30 assists.
Texas battled back from a late deficit in the opening set, erasing a five-point Oklahoma lead to tie the score at 22-22. Anderson recorded a kill to even the set, but the Sooners scored three of the final four points to take the opener, 25-23.
The Longhorns took the lead in the second set behind kills from Anderson and Stafford, building a 9-6 advantage. Oklahoma responded with a run to regain control and pulled away late to claim the set, 25-18, and take a 2-0 lead.
Texas faced a six-point deficit in the third set before mounting a comeback. Trailing 24-20, the Longhorns fought off four consecutive match points to tie the score at 24-24. Stafford delivered two kills during the stretch, and Binney added an ace. Texas continued to battle through extra points, with Anderson giving the Longhorns a 26-25 lead and Gaido tying the score at 28-28. Oklahoma closed out the match with the final two points to secure the 30-28 set victory.
Next up, the Longhorns return home to Gregory Gym on Friday, Oct. 16 versus Auburn at 6:30 p.m. The match will stream live on SEC Network+.
