No. 9 Volleyball trio earn SEC weekly honors

Rella Binney tabbed Player and Setter of the Week for the first time in her career.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 9 Texas Volleyball's Rella Binney, Torrey Stafford and Henley Anderson combined to earn four weekly Southeastern Conference honors, the conference office announced Monday.
Binney earned Setter and Player of the Week honors, while Stafford was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Anderson was selected as the Freshman of the Week following a 2-0 weekend at Gregory Gymnasium.
Binney's recognition marks the first SEC weekly honors of her career. She directed the Longhorns to a pair of victories over Mississippi State and Alabama, totaling 79 assists while averaging 11.29 assists per set. She recorded 39 assists in Texas' sweep of Mississippi State, marking her fifth consecutive 30-assist performance, before posting 40 assists in the Longhorns' four-set victory over Alabama, her fourth 40-assist effort in the last six matches. The Longhorns hit .322 across the two matches, including a season-best .438 against Mississippi State.
Stafford led Texas with 38 kills across the two matches, averaging 5.43 kills per set while hitting .281. She opened the weekend with a match-high 20 kills on a season-best .419 hitting percentage in the sweep of Mississippi State, adding 13 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Stafford followed that with 18 kills, two service aces and two blocks against Alabama, including the match-clinching kill in the fourth set. It is the eighth SEC weekly honor of Stafford's career.
Anderson also earned her first career SEC weekly honor after posting double-digit kills in both matches. She finished the weekend with 25 kills while hitting .426, recording 12 kills on a then-career-best .400 hitting against Mississippi State before adding 13 kills on a career-best .455 hitting against Alabama. Anderson also contributed three blocks and two digs against Alabama.
The four SEC weekly awards are the first for Texas this season.
Texas (7-5, 3-1 SEC) returns to the road next weekend for a pair of SEC matches. The Longhorns face Arkansas (8-6, 0-3) on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. CT at Barnhill Arena before traveling to Oklahoma (8-4, 1-2) for a 2 p.m. CT match against the Sooners on Sunday, Oct. 11, at McCasland Field House. Both matches will stream live on SEC Network+.
