Track & Field secures two podium finishes on final day of SEC Indoor Championships

Smallwood and Daniel lead Longhorns with bronze finishes in College Station.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Kendrick Smallwood and Kelsey Daniel delivered top-three performances Saturday to lead Texas Track & Field on the third and final day of the 2026 SEC Indoor Championships inside the Fasken Indoor Track and Field Facility.
The Texas men finished ninth with 35 points, while the women placed 11th with 30 points.
Smallwood captured bronze in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 7.56 to match the third-fastest time in program history. He set the school record during Friday's prelims at 7.46 and now owns the six fastest performances in program history and eight of the top nine.
Daniel secured his second medal of the meet, earning bronze in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 16.51m (54-2). The jump ranks seventh in program history and strengthened his standing as the No. 5 all-time performer at Texas.
Lucas Bons opened the scoring on the final day for the Longhorns, placing sixth in the men's mile final with a time of 4:04.40 to add three points. Sam Abati recorded a personal best in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.46m (17-11), moving up to No. 6 on the UT all-time performers list. Michael Pinones added points in the shot put, placing fifth with a throw of 19.33m (63-5).
On the women's side, Elise Cooper finished fourth in the 200 meters with a personal-best 22.80, moving into ninth on the Texas all-time performers list. Carleta Bernard placed seventh in the event at 23.19 and also added an eighth-place finish in the 60 meters with a time of 7.23.
Jeanne Le Goff posted a seventh-place mark of 13.11m (43-0.25) in the triple jump. The quartet of Amelliah Birdow, Cooper, Bayleigh Minor and Anouk Krause-Jentsch closed out the scoring with a sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:30.44.
Sophie Atkinson placed 14th in the women's 3,000 meters with a time of 9:08.81, the third-fastest performance in program history.
The Longhorns now turn their attention to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for March 13-14 in Fayetteville.
