Kavan and the Longhorns have won 17-consecutive games.
AUSTIN, Texas – Junior RHP Teagan Kavan's second career no-hitter propelled No. 3 Texas (19-1) to an 8-0 (six innings) victory over Incarnate Word (14-7) Sunday at McCombs Field.
With the victory, Texas extended its winning streak to 17-consecutive games. That ties for the fifth-longest winning streak in program history.
In Kavan's (8-0) 10-strikeout no-hitter vs. Incarnate Word, the West Des Moines, Iowa, native retired 18-of-19 batters faced. Kavan hit Incarnate Word's leadoff batter to begin the game in the top of the first but then retired 18-straight batters in her dominating effort in the circle. Kavan last threw an 11-strikekout, five-inning no-hitter in Texas' 8-0 win at Missouri on April 5, 2025. Kavan's two career no-hitters ties for seventh-most in program history. It also marked her third double-digit strikeout performance of the season. It was Kavan's second complete game shutout of the season and her first since blanking No. 25 Washington on Feb. 8. Kavan moves to 8-0 on the season.
Putting up eight runs on the board, Texas clinched its 11th run-rule win of the season, including its fourth in a row. Texas has scored eight or more runs in 15 games this season, including four-straight. Defensively, Texas did not record an error on the day.
The Longhorns were fueled behind the bat of junior center fielder Kayden Henry, who finished with a team-high four RBI, highlighted by a three-run home run in the fourth. It was Henry's second home run of the season. Henry drove in another run on a ground out to second base in the second that allowed senior Kaydee Bennett to score.
Senior second baseman Leighann Goode finished with a season-high three hits (3-for-3), scoring twice while recording two doubles and reaching via walk. The San Antonio product also notched her third stolen bag of the season.
Senior left fielder Kaiah Altmeyer roped an RBI triple to the center field wall to plate Goode for the six inning, walk-off victory. Altmeyer also drew two walks. Senior catcher Reese Atwood hammered an RBI double in the first while drawing a walk. Senior right fielder Ashton Maloney went 1-for-2 with a single to left and drew a walk. Freshman designated player Hannah Wells went 1-for-2 at the plate with a single.
The Horns jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first off the bat of Atwood, who cracked an RBI double to left to score Goode. Texas added its second run of the frame after Katie Stewart grounded out to second base, which scored Altmeyer from third.
Texas tacked on two more runs in the second. First, Henry grounded out to second, which allowed senior Kaydee Bennett to score for a 3-0 lead. Then, freshman Jaycie Nichols took home on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 4-0.
Henry blistered a three-run home run in the fourth to put the Horns ahead, 7-0. Needing one run for the run-rule, Altmeyer tanked an RBI triple to the center field wall to bring Goode home and seal the 8-0 win.
