No. 3 Softball opens SEC play on the road at No. 24 South Carolina

No. 3 Texas and No. 24 South Carolina open the three-game series at 5 p.m. CT Friday, March 6, at Carolina Softball Stadium.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Texas opens Southeastern Conference play at No. 24 South Carolina on March 6-8 at Carolina Softball Stadium in Columbia, S.C. The Longhorns and Gamecocks' series opener is set for 5 p.m. CT Friday on SEC Network+. Game two on Saturday will start at 2 p.m. on SEC Network+, and Sunday's series finale will begin at 11 a.m. on SEC Network.
- The Longhorns currently hold a 17-game winning streak dating back to Feb. 7. It ties for the fifth-longest streak in the nation. Texas' 17-game win streak ties for fifth-longest in program history.
- So far this season, the Longhorns are 6-1 against ranked opponents with two wins over top-10 opponents.
- Texas is fresh off of the program's first Women's College World Series (WCWS) National Championship in 2025. The Longhorns finished the historic season with a program-record 56 victories and a 56-12 overall record.
- The Longhorns' 10-2 postseason run in 2025 culminated with a 2-1 Championship Series (third appearance in four years) win over Texas Tech. In the winner-takes-all game three, the Longhorns clinched a 10-4 victory.
- Head coach Mike White is in his eighth season at helm of the Texas program and holds a 335-94-2 (.779) overall record during his time on the Forty Acres. In 17 combined seasons between Oregon (nine seasons) and Texas (eight seasons), White sports a 771-205-4 (.788) overall record.
- Friday will be the sixth all-time meeting between Texas and South Carolina and the first since 2018. South Carolina leads the all-time series, 3-2.
- Friday will be just the second time Texas has taken on South Carolina in Columbia. The Longhorns and Gamecocks last played each other in Columbia in 2018 with South Carolina winning that game, 1-0 (8 innings). It'll be the first time Texas and South Carolina will play each other in SEC play.
- Texas is 19-1 through its first 20 games for the third-consecutive year. The 19-1 start through 20 games ties the program record for best start to a season. The Longhorns have gone 19-1 in their first 20 games six times in program history (2026, 2025, 2024, 2012, 2006, 2003).
- The Longhorns embark in their second season as Southeastern Conference members. In their first season as a league member, the Horns went 16-8 to finish third in the conference.
- Texas won nine total Big 12 Conference Championships - five regular season championships (2002, 2003, 2006, 2010, 2024) and four conference tournament titles (1999, 2002, 2003, 2005).
- Texas is riding a 17-game winning streak after going 5-0 last week, winning a midweek vs. Southeastern Louisiana, 7-2, on Feb. 25, before run-ruling four opponents to go 4-0 at the Longhorn Invitational at McCombs Field on Feb. 27-March 1.
- Over the five-game stretch, UT outscored opponents, 44-5.
- In Texas' last 10 games, the Horns have outscored opponents 92-13.

- Texas is 6-1 against ranked opponents this season, splitting a pair of games vs. then-ranked No. 9 Nebraska, sweeping No. 25 Washington, sweeping No. 16 Arizona and beating No. 10 Stanford.
- The Longhorns are 273-317-2 all-time vs. ranked opponents.
- Last season, Texas went 22-12 vs. ranked foes. Texas is 12-12 all-time vs. opponents ranked No. 10 while holding an 8-10 mark against opponents ranked No. 16.

- Texas' 17-game win streak ties for the fifth-longest in program history. With a win Friday night vs. South Carolina, Texas' 18-game win streak would tie for the third-longest.
- The 2006 Texas Longhorns own the longest win streak in program history after putting together 24-straight wins from Feb. 11-March 8, 2006.
