No. 5 Beach Volleyball earns win on final day of East Meets West Invitational

Longhorns concluded the tournament with a 3-1 record and improved to 10-4 overall.
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – No. 5 Texas Beach Volleyball earned a 3-2 win over No. 10 California but fell to No. 1 UCLA, 5-0, to conclude the East Meets West Invitational on Saturday at Manhattan Beach Pier. Texas finished the tournament with a 3-1 record and improved to 10-4 overall, including a 9-4 mark against ranked opponents.
The Longhorns opened the day with a loss to No. 1 UCLA. The Bruins clinched the match with a 21-15, 21-13 win on Court 5 against Ava Patton and Vivian Johnson. Texas remains winless against UCLA in program history (0-4).
Texas responded with a 3-2 win over No. 10 California. Noa Sonneville and Karin Zolnercikova secured the clinching point on Court 5 with a 21-19, 21-17 victory over Elle Evers and Savanna Lau. The Longhorns lead the all-time series against the Golden Bears, 4-2.
Texas next will compete at the Death Volley Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, March 20-21, facing No. 8 Arizona State, No. 10 California, No. 17 Grand Canyon and Boise State.
