High-profile showcase set for Moody Center spotlight on Sept. 13.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Volleyball will bring another marquee matchup to one of the city's biggest stages, hosting Wisconsin at the Moody Center on Sunday, Sept. 13, the program announced Monday.
The match marks the second consecutive season the Longhorns will play at the Moody Center, continuing the program's effort to showcase volleyball on a larger stage in Austin.
The meeting will be the fifth between the two programs over the last four seasons, continuing a high-profile nonconference series between national powers. Wisconsin won the most recent matchup, defeating Texas in four sets in the NCAA Regional Finals in Austin. The Longhorns had previously won four straight in the series, including a sweep in Madison during the 2025 Opening Spike Classic. Texas holds an 8-5 advantage in the all-time series, including a 3-2 mark at home. The matchup features a pair of the most recent national champions, with Wisconsin (2021) and Texas (2022, 2023) combining to win three of the last five NCAA titles.
Texas opened Moody Center volleyball play in 2025 with a five-set win over Stanford in front of a state-record crowd of 10,899 fans. The attendance set a Texas single-match record and marked the largest regular-season volleyball crowd in state history.
The Longhorns open the 2026 season at the AVCA First Serve in Milwaukee, part of a four-day showcase at Fiserv Forum. Texas will face Arizona State on Saturday, Aug. 22, before taking on Marquette on Monday, Aug. 24.
Texas will also compete in the second annual Sprouts Farmers Market Broadway Block Party on Sunday, Sept. 6, facing Louisville at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Longhorns return key contributors from the 2025 season, including two-time AVCA first-team All-American Torrey Stafford, who led the team in kills (516), service aces (33) and points (580.5) while hitting .360. Stafford averaged 4.69 kills per set and added 52 blocks, earning AVCA National Player of the Year semifinalist honors.
Cari Spears earned AVCA third-team All-America recognition as a freshman, finishing second on the team with 358 kills while averaging 3.25 kills per set and hitting .295. Spears was a five-time SEC Freshman of the Week selection.
Both Stafford and Spears earned All-SEC first-team honors in 2025. Spears was also named to the SEC All-Freshman Team alongside Taylor Harvey and Abby Vander Wal.
