Four from No. 3 Softball earn national honors from the NFCA

Reese Atwood, Teagan Kavan and Katie Stewart were selected to the All-America Second Team while Atwood and Ashton Maloney became the program’s first Golden Glove recipients.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Four from No. 3 Texas Softball received national honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the organization announced at a press conference Wednesday afternoon at Devon Park.
Senior catcher Reese Atwood, junior RHP Teagan Kavan and junior first baseman Katie Stewart were named to the NFCA's All-America Second Team. Atwood and senior right fielder Ashton Maloney were the recipients of the NCAA Division I Rawlings Gold Glove Award, which is given to the best defender in the nation at each defensive position. Atwood and Maloney are the program's first two Golden Glove Award winners. Texas is the only program with multiple Golden Glove award recipients this season.
Texas has three NFCA All-Americans for the second-straight year. It's just the fifth time overall in program history that three different student-athletes were selected to a NFCA All-American team (1998, 1999, 2013, 2025, 2026).
Atwood ends her Longhorn career as a three-time NFCA All-American, becoming just the fourth Longhorn in program history to earn at least three NFCA All-America selections. The Sandia, Texas, product joins Janae Jefferson (2018-22), Blaire Luna (2010-11, 2013) and Cat Osterman (2002-03, 2005-06) as the only Longhorns to accomplish that feat. Atwood was named to the NFCA All-America First Team in 2024 and 2025. Atwood was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team and collected Second-Team All-SEC honors this season.
Kavan garnered NFCA Second-Team All-America honors for the second-consecutive year. Kavan is the eighth student-athlete in program history with multiple NFCA All-American honors, joining Reese Atwood (2024-26), Janae Jefferson (2018-22), Lindsey Stephens (2014, 2016), Blaire Luna (2010-11, 2013) Cat Osterman (2002-03, 05-56), Nikki Cockrell (1998-99) and Christa Williams (1998-99). Kavan is one of six pitchers in program history to earn All-America distinction from the NFCA, joining Hailey Dolcini (2022), Miranda Elish (2019), Blaire Luna (2010-11, 13), Cat Osterman (2002-03, 05-06) and Christa Williams (1998-99). The West Des Moines, Iowa, native is one of four pitchers in program history to haul in multiple NFCA All-America accolades. Kavan was also named to D1Softball's All-America Second Team. Kavan has been tabbed to the All-SEC First Team and was named the SEC Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Kavan was also selected as a top-25 finalist for USA Softball's Collegiate Player of the Year Award.
Stewart received her first NFCA All-America honor and adds it to the long list of awards she has received this year, including SEC Player of the Year, top-10 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, First-Team All-American praise from D1Softball and Softball America and First-Team All-SEC recognition.
Maloney, along with Atwood, makes history as the program's first Golden Glove Award winner. Maloney was an NFCA Third-Team All-Central Region honoree. The Liberty, Mo., native has been a force in right field throughout her four-year career. Maloney posted a .979 fielding percentage with 39 putouts, seven assists and a double play this season.
