The Georgetown, Texas, native was a First-Team All-Big 12 honoree in 2026.
AUSTIN, Texas – Former Arizona State catcher Samantha Swan has transferred to Texas to join head coach Mike White and the Texas Longhorns. Swan is immediately eligible with one year of eligibility remaining.
A native of Georgetown, Texas, Swan was a unanimous First-Team All-Big 12 selection and NFCA All-West Region Third Team honoree as a junior in 2026. Swan slashed .383/.700/.450 with 69 hits, 55 RBI, 12 home runs, 21 doubles, 39 runs scored, 126 total bases, 15 walks and nine stolen bases in 62 games this past season. Swan registered a 1.151 OPS, 25 multi-hit outings and 14 multi-hit performances. Behind the plate, Swan compiled a .987 fielding percentage and threw out three would-be base stealers.
In addition to receiving unanimous First-Team All-Big 12 and Third-Team NFCA All-West Region praise as a junior, Swan was named NFCA National Player of the Week on April 14 and twice named Big 12 Player of the Week on April 14 and April 21. Swan guided Arizona State to a Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship and a NCAA Super Regional appearance.
Swan earned her second Big 12 Player of the Week accolade of the 2026 season on April 21 after slashing .615/.688/1.000 in contests against then-No. 19/24 Grand Canyon and Houston. She batted 1.000 in back-to-back games against the Cougars, while she went 7-for-9 from the plate. Swan tallied six runs and drove in six, while collecting 12 total bases as ASU swept Houston. In the field, the junior posted a 1.000 fielding percentage after converting all 39 chances. Swan received her first Big 12 Player of the Week recognition on April 14 after recording a .900 batting average and landing on base in all but one at-bat throughout a four-game stretch.
Swan holds a career .322 batting average across three seasons at Arizona State. As a sophomore in 2025, Swan started in 55 games and finished with a .986 fielding percentage while throwing out nine would-be base stealers. She was one of four Sun Devils to tally 45 or more hits on the season.
Swan is the daughter of Suzy and Rev. Tim Swan and attended Georgetown High School. She helped Georgetown reach the Texas 5A Regional Finals as a senior. Swan was tabbed to the Texas All-State Second Team and is a two-time Academic All-District recipient.
Texas is coming off back-to-back NCAA Women's College World Series Championships. The Longhorns swept Texas Tech in two games in the Championship Series last week. It's the program's second overall national title. Texas has appeared in the WCWS Championship Series in four of the last five years. The Horns also took home the SEC Tournament Championship trophy in 2026 – the program's first SEC Tournament title and fifth overall conference tournament championship.
